1. Bending and lifting
這樣做 ✓Do ✓
Bend the knees, keep the back straight, lift with the legs
Keep the load close to the body; don't reach out to lift
For heavy or awkward loads, plan the angle or use a tool before muscling it
To turn, step with the feet and rotate the whole body — don't twist the spine while lifting
Legs straight, reaching the floor with only the back
Bending while twisting — one of the hardest combos on the lower back
Holding breath and straining, or jerking the load up suddenly
A move that makes the back "twang" — and pushing through it anyway
2. Shoes and standing on one leg
Don't hop on one foot to dress. Standing on one leg to put on a shoe tilts the pelvis toward the supporting side and the back compensates. Sit down, or brace against a wall with the foot on a low stool.
Pick a stable, supportive shoe. Too-soft or slide-off soles let the foot roll in and pass the tilt up to knee, hip and back (raised in earlier pieces; worth repeating).
Alternate the weight-bearing leg. Waiting, queuing, doing chores — deliberately share the load; don't let one side hold all day.
3. Both long standing and long sitting need "rotation"
Whether standing or sitting, the problem isn't the posture itself but holding one too long. The fix for both is the same word: rotate.
Sitting long: stand and walk a few steps each hour; keep both feet flat and rest one on a low stool in turns so the pelvis isn't locked at one angle.
Standing long: alternate a foot on a stool, keep knees soft not locked, step away when you can — don't root like a post.
One often-missed point
Resting by sitting" and "resting by lying down" aren't the same. When the back is already tired, collapsing into a sofa often bends the lumbar spine into a worse curve. What actually rests the back is changing position and moving — not sinking into something softer.
4. Stiffness after a small bump isn't "normal"
A rear-end tap, a light knock, even a stumble you caught — nothing at the time, then two or three days later one side feels tight, one direction catches. People file this slowly-appearing stiffness under "getting older" or "just tired lately." But it may be the body quietly shifting its arrangement after that small bump, showing up days later.
The body self-compensates: when one side hurts it leans on the other, and a new imbalance forms. So the timeline "I bumped it days ago, now it's stiff" is worth noting — telling me that on a visit helps far more than describing only "where it hurts."
5. When to see a doctor instead of self-caring
None of these should be pushed through with "fix your posture, rest more" — see a licensed medical professional first:
Discomfort steadily worsening or spreading, clearly worse day by day.
Something you genuinely can't do — arm won't lift, foot won't steady, things drop — not merely "feels odd."
Bladder or bowel control changes.
Pain began after a fall or collision, or comes with fever.
6. In one line
Back care isn't one big correct move — it's making small habits (bend the knees, rotate, don't push through, note the timeline) part of the everyday.
