1. What the claim actually says

In short, it holds a few ideas: the skull bones move microscopically, the sacrum is involved, cerebrospinal fluid is pumped in a fixed rhythm, and a trained practitioner, hand resting lightly, can "feel" that rhythm and read from its speed and smoothness where work is needed.

It sounds systematic, even reassuring — as if the body has a "clock that speaks for itself." I understand why many are drawn to it.

2. Why I don't write it that way (three points)

First, that "independent rhythm" was never stably measured

To this day, instruments searching for that specific, fluid-borne fixed rhythm return inconsistent, non-reproducible results. Science has no accepted measurement that confirms it exists. Something "unmeasurable" can't, in good conscience, be written as settled fact.

Second, different people "feeling" it often disagree

Studies had several trained practitioners each "feel" the same person; their judgments on "is the rhythm normal, where is work needed" often failed to match. Science calls this "low inter-rater reliability" — when different people reach very different answers on the same thing, it's hard to treat as a reliable basis.

Third, the felt rise-and-fall is likelier something else

As we noted in 〈身體裡那些慢節律〉"The body's slow rhythms", the subtle rise-and-fall a hand feels is more soundly explained by vessel-tone waves (the vasomotor wave) plus the tiny surface tremor of breath and heartbeat. Those are real and measurable; bundling them into "one mysterious fluid rhythm" is an extra leap.

3. This doesn't mean "gentle hands-on is useless"

Let me be clear so it isn't misread. Releasing tight muscle, easing the discomfort of long contraction — that's real, and many people genuinely feel better. The issue isn't "hands-on" itself, but taking what a finger feels and calling it an "objective, measurable rhythm," then asserting "here's the problem and here's the fix." That step science can't support, and I won't write.

Gentle relaxation is real; dressing a feeling up as a measurable "truth" is where I stop.

4. So what do I judge from

Not "listening to a rhythm," I use what's visible: how you describe it, your daily habits, your stance and posture, where simple movements catch, how far left and right differ. These take experience too, but at least they line up with each other and with what you feel — the "assess first" spirit we cover in 〈先找位置,再動手〉"Find the spot before you act".

Honesty is part of the work too

Some wording sells better, but I'd rather write less and write it right. When you visit, you deserve to know what I judge from — and what I simply don't know. That holds up better than a story that sounds complete.

5. Advice for you

When a session states "rhythm," "energy" or "detox" as absolute, ask: "has this been measured? any studies?"
Gentle relaxation is fine, but don't read "feels good now" as "problem solved."
Real discomfort that persists or worsens belongs to a physician who can diagnose — that's their craft.
